The three texts in this collection explore the theme of the need for women and girls to persevere in the face of adversities, especially various abuses, including gender-based violence. In the title story, Change of Plan, a young girl abandons her dream of finishing school and going to university when she becomes trapped in a forced and unhappy marriage. But when her husband and family prevent her from striving toward a new, much less ambitious goal, she decides on a change of plan. The collection also includes the poem Don’t Give Up and the informational piece You Know of a Monster: Gender-Based Violence.
